President Trump has given his ‘blessing’ to a deal which will allow Chinese social media app TikTok to continue operating in the US. 

In a major U-turn, Trump said he was willing to approve a partnership between TikTok and US tech giant Oracle.

It followed Friday’s announcement by the US Department of Commerce that the video-sharing platform would be banned in the US from Saturday. 

But before the midnight deadline, Trump said he had ‘approved the deal in concept’, adding, ‘I have given [it] my blessing.’
